Finding Nigerian Girls Now a Top U.S. Priority: Officials

Finding and freeing the 276 missing Nigerian schoolgirls held by the Islamic rebel group Boko Haram is one of the U.S. government's "highest priorities," NBC News reported. A State Department official told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that the abduction of the girls is part of a "long, terrible trend" by the terrorist group, resulting in over 1,000 deaths this year alone. The U.S. is helping Nigeria build its intelligence and law enforcement capability and is also flying reconnaissance planes over Nigeria to assist in the search for the girls.
