Edward Norton in Talks to Play “Bourne” Bad Guy

The cast for the Bourne reboot is sizing up to be pretty awesome.

Edward Norton is said to be in negotiations to star as the heavy in "The Bourne Legacy," reported Variety. The film is being directed by Tony Gilroy, who wrote the script for this and the other Bourne films.

Norton would star opposite Jeremy Renner, who will be playing another agent trained by the same monsters that created Jason Bourne, and Rachel Weisz. Beyond that, details are thin.

Norton, of course, is a great bad guy--even when he's the good guy he can be kind of a jerk, and as we always say, a great actor is essential for a good villain.

With Paul Greengrass having washed his hands of Bourne, and Universal having washed their hands of Doug Liman, there's no one better than Gilroy to get Bourne back on the big screen. We loved his first directorial effort, "Michael Clayton," and subsequent viewings have proven "Duplicity" to be much better than we first thought.

"The Bourne Legacy" is scheduled to be released Aug. 3, 2012.
