First Clip From Clooney's “The Descendants” Sneaks Online

We've all been looking forward to George Clooney's upcoming film, The Descendants," from writer-director Alexander Payne, and late yesterday came our first taste.

"WhoIsHe.org" went live yesterday, with a (frustratingly unembeddable) clip of Clooney running through a suburban paradise into a home to ask people, whom we can only assume are his children, "Who is He?" That's it.

Here's the film's official synopsis, which offers no clue as to who "he" is:

From Alexander Payne, the creator of the Oscar-winning SIDEWAYS, set in Hawaii, THE DESCENDANTS is a sometimes humorous, sometimes tragic journey for Matt King (George Clooney) an indifferent husband and father of two girls, who is forced to re-examine his past and embrace his future when his wife suffers a boating accident off of Waikiki. The event leads to a rapprochement with his young daughters while Matt wrestles with a decision to sell the family’s land handed down from Hawaiian royalty and missionaries.

This is Payne's first feature film since "Sideways," and the cast he's assembled around his star includes Judy Greer, Beau Bridges, Robert Forster and Matthew Lillard. It opens Dec. 16 and is pretty clearly poised for an Oscar run.
