Chicago Man Accused in Drunken Beating of Mother

The woman was treated at a hospital for bruises and cuts to her face

A Chicago man is accused of slamming his mother's head into a sidewalk after she tried to grab his car keys in an attempt to keep him from driving while intoxicated.

Prosecutors say 30-year-old Jesus Quinones Jr. of the Logan Square neighborhood attacked his 72-year-old mother around 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that a neighbor witnessed the attack and phoned police.

According to an arrest report, the woman was found on a porch with blood on her face. The report says her son was in the backyard and was combative with officers.

The woman was treated at a hospital for bruises and cuts to her face.

A judge ordered Quinones held in lieu of $250,000 bail.

It was not immediately clear the man already had a lawyer.
