Burger King Makes ‘Whopper Wine' in Spain

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of its first restaurant in Europe, Burger King has created a limited edition "Whopper Wine."

The fast-food chain partnered with sommeliers in Spain to create "a wine which is the perfect pairing to the Whopper sandwich, enhancing its unique flame-grilled taste," according to the company's press release.

The "Whopper Wine," made with Tempranillo grapes, has been aged for one year in French oak barrels, which were themselves flame-grilled in real Burger King broiler. Only forty bottles were made.

Resident of Spain can get their hands on the rare wine by sharing photos and videos of memorable moments spent at a Burger King restaurant on social media, Burger Kind said.

A representative for the restaurant chain said that at this time the contest is open only to residents of Spain to celebrate the anniversary.

The Whopper Wine isn't the only out of the box item offered by Burger King recently. Just in time for Halloween, the fast-food chain brought their black-bunned whopper from Japan to the U.S. The H.A.1.LOWEEN Whopper features a black bun with A.1. sauce baked into it and has been available at certain locations stateside since Sept 28.
