2 Killed When WWII-Era Tank Explodes in Oregon

Two people were killed when a World War II-era tank exploded Tuesday afternoon in rural Oregon, authorities said.

The explosion took place at a firing range near the town of Millican, 25 miles southwest of Bend, NBC News reported.

Deputies from Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office found two people at the scene of the explosion with critical injuries. Fire paramedics from Bend attempted lifesaving efforts, but the victims died from their injuries, according to state police.

The families of the victims had yet to be notified. Police would not release any other details. NBC News tried to obtain comment from the Shooting Sports Association, but calls weren’t answered Tuesday night.
