Theater That Employs People With Disabilities Gets NY Yankees Visit

The New York Yankees visited a theater in Ridgefield, Connecticut, to recognize its inspiring off-screen mission.

The Prospector Theater strives to “provide educational and employment opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities.”

The Yankees brought the theater a $10,000 check and also spent some time with its employees.

The theater’s goal is to entertain audiences while giving them the opportunity to support underemployed members of society.

"It's tragic to lose the intelligence, the ideas, the energy, the spirituality of people who otherwise would be left to the side," Michael Obediah, who has multiple sclerosis and writes grant proposals for the theater, told NBC News in February. "We're cracking open this incredible treasure of human potential."
