Hundreds of thousands of laborers once again gathered for the yearly May Day labor marches and protests.
Some of the protests were political. Anti-Vladimir Putin activists rallied at St. Petersburg, Russia, as yellow jacket protests in Paris turned violent. Activists in Johannesburg, South Africa, rousted voters during May Day a week before their national election.
Meanwhile, laborers in London, Seoul, Taipei, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Beirut and others marched through their country's capitals to demand better working conditions for domestic and foreign laborers.
