Mars Candy Heiress Involved in Fatal Accident

The heiress to chocolate empire Mars, Inc., was involved in a fatal crash after her Porsche SUV crossed a median and struck a minivan, killing an 86-year-old woman last week in Northern Virginia.

Police say Jacqueline Badger Mars, 73 was driving west along Route 50 near Briar Patch Lane in Aldie, Va., when she crossed the median around 2:30 p.m. and collided with a minivan carrying six people. 

Irene C. Ellisor, 86, of Huntsville, Texas (pictured right), was in the back seat of the minivan and died at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Charges against Badger Mars are have not been filed. The cause of the accident has not yet been released.

"She was just a real caring person, loved her family," Ellisor's grandson Byron Ellisor told News4's Shomari Stone. "She still had a lot of life left in her."

He said his grandmother and six other relatives had driven to a wedding in Virginia Thursday.

"This tragedy has left Jacquie filled with sorrow for the loss of life and those who were injured in the accident," Badger Mars' spokesperson said in a statement. "She would like to express her deepest condolences to the families involved.
