Couple Killed Man, Then Jumped Off George Washington Bridge: Police

Police say a New York couple is believed to have strangled a 70-year-old relative over a dispute about money before they stole his car, drove to the George Washington Bridge and jumped to their deaths.

Nicki Hunt, 40, and her boyfriend, Gary Crockett, 41, had been living with Hunt's uncle, William Valenti, in Suffern, N.Y., according to police there.

Police say the three had an ongoing financial dispute after Valenti learned Hunt and Crockett had recently taken money from his bank account.

On Monday, authorities say another relative called police to report he found Valenti dead at his Suffern home where Hunt and Crockett had been staying.

Police said Valenti had been strangled, and a note at the scene indicated the couple had left there "intent on harming themselves."

The pair is believed to have gone to the George Washington Bridge and jumped off. Valenti's car key was found with Hunt's body after she was pulled out of the water Monday afternoon.

Both Hunt and Crockett had past criminal records; she was previously charged for forgery and grand larceny and he had a narcotics possession charge.
