Armored Tank Runs Over, Kills Man at Reunion Event

A man was killed when a tank ran over him Saturday afternoon in Northern California, authorities said.

The 55-year-old man was attending a family reunion at an armory museum in unincorporated Solano County at around 2:25 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The event offered rides on military armored tanks.

When it was his turn, the man sat at the front of a 1944 World War II tank with an authorized driver, according to CHP officers.

The man fell out of the armored tank when it went over a small hill and he landed in front of the vehicle. Authorities said the tank ran over the man, killing him on the spot. He was pronounced dead at 2:41 p.m., CHP officers said.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
