Yu Darvish Falls Down, Incurs Justin Verlander's Wrath

Darvish still hit a double on the play

Chicago Cubs pitcher Yu Darvish had a strong afternoon on the mound in a 3-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers, but it was his baserunning that caught the attention of one of baseball’s biggest stars.

Darvish, who pitched six innings and allowed one run in the game, also hit his first double of the season in the game, but as he rounded second base, things took a turn for the worse:

Fortunately, Darvish was not hurt as he stumbled around the bag and crawled back to the base, but Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander wasn’t quite so ready to just give him a pass:

“Yu, not doing a lot here to help us dispel the pitchers aren’t athletes thing,” Verlander tweeted.

Verlander and Darvish squared off during the 2017 World Series, when Darvish was a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Verlander’s Astros came out on top in that series, winning in seven games.
