Six people were injured, two critically, in a wrong-way crash on the Bishop Ford Expressway early Saturday morning.
At about 2:30 a.m., a 22-year-old man was driving north in the southbound lanes of the expressway near 157th Street, according to Illinois State Police Sgt. Dominic Falcone. The car hit a total of three other vehicles, including one that had a 35-year-old woman and two teenage boys inside.
One of the boys, who is 16, was critically injured as a result of the crash and needed surgery Saturday morning, police said.
The 22-year-old driver was also seriously injured, but police said his injuries were not life-threatening.
A 43-year-old woman in another vehicle was also injured in the crash, but she was released from the hospital Saturday morning, police said.
Alcohol was a factor in the crash, but police continue to investigate, Falcone said.
All lanes were temporarily closed following the crash, but they reopened by 8 a.m.
