Cops Seek Info on Quartet of Female Thieves in Indiana

Authorities are seeking information about four women wanted in connection to a string of store thefts in the Hammond, Indiana area, police said Monday.

The first crime occurred on Jan. 27 at the Mini-Mart in the 7300 block of Columbia Avenue. The second on the same day at Discount Liquors in the 7400 block of Columbia Avenue. The other two were committed Feb. 24 in the 1100 block of 5th Avenue at Sadoni Beauty Supply and another that day at Grand Foods in the 6800 block of Grand Avenue, police said.

Police said in each incident two females enter the business and distract the employees by asking questions. Two other females then enter and go to the office or counter area where they steal money, police said. Three suspects are black women in their 20s or early 30s. One female is in her late 40s or early 50s. They wear the same clothing and cover their heads with scarves, hoodies and/or hats. They then flee in a black SUV (possibly a Hyundai Santa Fe type) with possible Illinois plates, police said.

A large about of money was taken from the businesses, police said.
