Woman Fatally Struck by Blue Line Train on Northwest Side

Preliminary information indicates the victim was brushed by the side of the train and fell back on the platform

A woman was killed when she was hit by a northbound Blue Line train on the Northwest Side Friday morning, police confirmed.

The incident occurred about 6:30 a.m. by an O’Hare-bound train at the Irving Park stop, CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.

Preliminary information indicates the victim was brushed by the side of the train and fell back on the platform, Hosinski said.

A fire department representative said the woman, whose exact age was not known, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in grave condition.

Power was cut for trains heading northwest for 20 minutes, but they were on the move with residual delays by 7 a.m., Hosinski said.
