Woman Killed, Man Wounded in Lansing Shooting

The woman was shot in the head and was found in a parking lot at 6 p.m. Tuesday night

A woman was killed and a man wounded Tuesday in a shooting in south suburban Lansing.

Officers responded at 6:07 p.m. to a parking lot at 2500 Bernice Road and found the pair with gunshot wounds, Lansing police said in a statement.

Lisa Marie York, 41, had been shot in the head, police and the Lake County coroner’s office said. She was pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m. at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Hammond, Indiana. Her death was ruled a homicide. York lived in Hobart, Indiana.

The man was shot multiple times in the body and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition had stabilized, police said.

Shortly after the shooting, police taped off the parking lot of a Just Tires auto shop.

Lansing police are investigating the shooting with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.
