85-Year-Old Woman Killed, Infant Injured in Libertyville Crash

An elderly woman was killed and three other people, including an infant, were injured in a crash Sunday evening near north suburban Libertyville. 

A 2003 Chrysler Town and Country minivan was on the off-ramp for southbound Route 45 when the driver attempted to make a left turn onto eastbound Route 137 and was struck by a 2014 Cadillac CTS that was westbound on Route 137, according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff’s office. 

The driver of the Chrysler, an 85-year-old Deerfield woman, was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where she was pronounced dead, according to the statement. Her name was not released Monday morning. 

The passenger in the Chrysler, a 63-year-old Deerfield man, was also taken to Condell with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of the Cadillac, a 22-year-old Round Lake Beach man, and his passenger, a 22-month-old infant, were taken to the Northwestern-Grayslake emergency room with with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the statement. 

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
