Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident in Antioch Township

A 27-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Antioch Township early Sunday morning, police said. 

The woman, a resident of Youngstown, Arizona according to police, was driving northbound on Route 59 when her car was struck from behind by another vehicle. 

Both cars lost control after the impact, with the woman's Chevrolet leaving the road and crashing into a tree. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. 

The other vehicle, a Volvo driven by a 41-year-old man, struck another tree, and the driver fled the scene on foot according to police. The Lake County Sheriff's Canine Team performed a scent-track for the driver, and located him at his nearby house, according to a police report. 

The man was arrested, and charges are pending, according to police.
