Woman Fatally Struck by CTA Bus on SW Side

The woman may have fainted or lost her balance

A woman died Saturday morning after she was struck by a bus on the Southwest Side, authorities said.

The woman, whose age was not immediately known, was struck by a westbound #47 bus near Western about 6:20 a.m., according to CTA spokesman Brian Steele and police.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the fatality but did not have additional details Saturday morning.

According to preliminary reports, the woman may have fainted or lost her balance and fallen into the path of the bus, Steele said.

The Police Major Accidents Investigations Unit was investigating the crash Saturday morning.
