Sixty-one-year-old Joyce Harvey died Tuesday morning in a fire in her home in the Far West Side’s Austin neighborhood, at 141 S. Waller Ave., according to Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.
The blaze was small and contained to just one room, but when fire crews entered the home to conduct a primary search, they found the victim unresponsive, Langford said.
Harvey suffered burns and smoke inhalation and was taken to Loretto Hospital where she was pronounced dead, Langford said.
No other injuries were reported, Langford said.
An autopsy is scheduled for later Tuesday.
