Woman Dies After Being Hit by Car in South Side Hit-and-Run

Chicago police and fire officials are still investigating the incident

A 60-year-old woman injured after she was struck by a car while standing at a bus stop in Chicago's Washington Park neighborhood on Saturday evening has died, officials say. 

According to Chicago Police, two 60-year-old women were standing at a bus stop near the intersection of 61st Street and King Drive at approximately 7:14 p.m. Saturday when they were hit by a Ford Explorer SUV. 

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, and was later taken into custody by police. The driver is now facing charges in connection with the incident. 

One of the women was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, and was later pronounced dead.

The other woman was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where she is in stable condition.
