According to a new ranking, one Chicago suburb can lay claim to the title of best suburb in the state of Illinois.
The ranking, compiled by the publication 24/7 Wall Street, ranked north suburban Winnetka as the best suburb to live in. The ranking, published this week, identifies the best suburb in every state.
According to the website, the ranking was compiled using a variety of data, including average commute time, home size, crime rates, and income, and the ranking was weighted if they performed better-than-average in these areas compared to the major city they were closest to.
The average median household income in Winnetka is 254 percent higher than the state median, according to the website, and the average commute time is 37 minutes for area residents.
In Indiana, Carmel took home the prize as the top suburb, just a 24-minute commute on average from Indianapolis. Merton, a suburb of Milwaukee, was named as the best suburb in Wisconsin.
