Who Stuck Out in Last-Minute Loss?

Chicago's loss to Denver was like a punch in the stomach that you saw coming but couldn't stop. But there were some players who stood out more than others.

Grizzly Bears -- the Bears who tamed the bucking Broncos

Israel Idonije -- Though he was angry at himself for not blocking the game-winning field goal, Izzy was the star on defense. He blocked a field goal, recovered a fumble, and made four tackles.

Craig Steltz -- The blonde from LSU makes this list again for stepping up when the Bears have to deal with an injury. He had a sack, five tackles, and forced a fumble.

Adam Podlesh -- Punters are rarely noticed, but in a game that is scoreless until late in the third quarter, punters are crucial. Podlesh had 11 punts, getting four inside the 20 and averaging 47.8.

Robbie Gould -- The Bears know they can count on Robbie Gould because he is one of the league's most reliable kickers. But from 57 yards? Even in the thin air of Denver, it seemed improbable. Somehow, Gould hit that field goal, breaking the Bears franchise record.

Teddy Bears -- the Bears who were trampled

Marion Barber -- The worst part of Barber's gaffes late in the game is that they covered up his best performance as a Bear. Barber had 108 yards on 27 carries. He was the only offensive player to make a difference in the game. But before you get angry about his run out of bounds and fumble, consider this: Barber is a third-down back who was thrown into the spot of No. 1 back because of Matt Forte's injury. He hasn't carried the ball more than 25 times since Oct. 26, 2008. An exhausted man making mistakes late in the game should shock no one.

Offensive line -- Hey, remember when they had two sack-free games? Me too. That was awesome. Yesterday? They allowed four.

Mike Martz -- Watching the Broncos win with their second-string quarterback should make Martz's stomach turn. Denver changed their game plan to fit the personnel. Martz is nowhere near as nimble; his only way to deal with the loss of Matt Forte and Jay Cutler is to double Barber's carries in one week. Hanie threw the ball just 19 times.
