Saturday afternoon will be a special day at Guaranteed Rate Field, as the Chicago White Sox will retire Mark Buehrle’s number 56 jersey during a pregame ceremony.
On Thursday, the team unveiled details for the ceremony, which will honor Buehrle’s stellar 12-year career on the South Side.
Parking lots around the ballpark will open at 10:10 a.m., according to the White Sox, and the gates to the ballpark itself will open at 11:10 a.m.
Every fan attending the game at Guaranteed Rate Field will receive a special pin commemorating the occasion.
The pregame ceremony will begin sometime around 12:15 p.m., with fans encouraged to be in their seats in time for the festivities to get underway.
In 12 seasons with the White Sox, Buehrle won 161 games and posted a 3.83 ERA in 390 career appearances. He won three Gold Glove Awards, was named to four All-Star Games, and finished in the top five of Cy Young voting during the 2005 season.
That season was a special one for Buehrle and the White Sox, as they won their first championship in 88 years. Buehrle pitched in two games of the World Series, including nailing down the save in Game 3 of the sweep against the Houston Astros.

According to the White, a very limited number of tickets are still available to Saturday’s game against the Oakland A’s, which starts at 1:10 p.m.
