White Christmas Not Likely in Chicago Area This Year

Christmas Day looks to be unseasonably warm and partly sunny

If you were dreaming of a white Christmas you might not see it in the Chicago area this year.

Christmas Day looks to be unseasonably warm and partly sunny, according to early predictions.

As a surge of unseasonable warmth returns for the start of the work week, the city could even see record-breaking warmth just before the holiday.

Monday's temperatures will sit in the upper-40s and low-50s as morning rain tapers heading into the afternoon and evening hours. Things will likely stay dry Tuesday before another chance for wet weather moves in Wednesday, though temperatures aren't expected to be cold enough for snow.

Wednesday's forecast high is expected to sit near 60 degrees. The record high for that day is 62 degrees, set in 1982.

Christmas Eve looks to be partly sunny and pleasant with highs in the mid-40s and those conditions will likely linger through Christmas Day.

Showers are possible late Friday and into Saturday morning, however.
