When Will Chicago Rain Go Away?

A reprieve will be on its way soon enough

When will this days-long rain spell end? Altogether, not for several more days, but toward the end of the week, Chicagoans should get a reprieve.

Temps are expected to turn milder on Thursday, warming to upper 60s and lower 70s with possible showers holding off until the afternoon and early evening.

Friday looks partly sunny inland, according to NBCChicago meteorologist Andy Avalos, and mostly cloudy by the lake. Though temps turn cooler and winds are expected to pick up, rain should stay out of Chicago and in northwest Indiana.

Rain continues Saturday in northwest Indiana but stays away most everywhere else. Sunny, seasonably cool highs in the mid- to upper 50s means coats will be a needed accessory.

Until then, keep that umbrella close at hand. The damp, chilly days the Chicago area has seen in the past four days continues with scattered showers, plenty of clouds and highs in the low to mid-60s.
