A Wheaton College professor was fired after being charged with possessing child pornography.
The school announced Thursday morning it had terminated Donald Ratcliff, 60, from the private Christian school on March 14.
Ratcliff was arrested March 1 and charged with two counts of aggravated child pornography.
Police said they discovered pornographic images on multiple computers in his home and found that he had been trading child pornography online.
According to the Daily Herald Ratcliff wrote on the subject of children and spirituality on his personal website stating: "I appreciate children in all of their richness and complexity...I am particularly interested in the spirituality of children."
The former professor and pastor had been a faculty member at the college since 2006 and taught Christian education.
