The jury is still out on the status of Patrick Sharp.

During the Hawks' win over the Coyotes on Sunday, Sharp collided with Rostislav Klesla and apparently injured his left knee.

An update on the injury is expected Tuesday, but rumors are buzzing about whether the team's second highest scoring player will be able to rejoin his Blackhawks teammates anytime soon.

There's one thing bloggers and analysts seem to agree on: The Hawks can't vie for the Stanley Cup without Sharp.

Here's some of the buzz around the web:

  • Viktor Stalberg or Troy Brouwer might have the edge to step up in Sharp's place, but it would be a blow to the team. (ESPN
  • The fact that Coach Joel Quenneville wasn't his usual "this injury isn't serious" self after Sunday's game probably means the injury was pretty serious. (Daily Herald
  • This could be the worst Hawks injury "short of something happening to Jonathan Toews" -- at least among the forwards. (Chicago Tribune
  • The Hawks, deep down, expect Sharp to be out of the game for a while. (ChicagoNow
  • Duncan Keith was diplomatic about the injury, saying Sharp is a tough player to replace, but the void could be filled if everyone chips in. (Chicago Sun-Times)
