1 Critically Injured in Westmont Apartment Building Fire

The blaze was reported just after 6:30 a.m. in the 600 block of 65th Street

At least one person was critically injured in a fire at an apartment building in Westmont Friday morning, authorities said.

The blaze was reported just after 6:30 a.m. in a three-story building in the 600 block of 65th Street.

Fire officials said one person was rescued from the flames and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in critical condition.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation as of Friday morning, but the Bensenville K-9 unit was at the scene investigating.

The building had six units inside. A total of 10 people were displaced, fire officials said.

The Red Cross was at the scene assisting the displaced residents.
