A West Chicago school was being evacuated Wednesday after the officials reported a telephone threat, according to authorities.
Area police said the incident at West Chicago Community High School was under investigation and police were working to search the school as of 1:45 p.m.
"The decision was made for the safety of students and staff to evacuate the building as a precaution," police said.
The DuPage County Sheriff and emergency personnel were also at the scene, authorities said.
Police had not yet determined if the threat was credible as of 2 p.m., but no injuries had been reported. Details on the threat weren't immediately known.
The school was evacuated just before 2 p.m. and students were being dismissed early.
Parents were being told not to go to the school but to instead go to a parking lot at Wood and Stimmel Streets. Students were also being bussed home as part of the early dismissal.
