Man, 22, Fatally Struck by Pickup in West Chatham

A man was fatally struck by a pickup truck Monday afternoon in West Chatham.

The 22-year-old was performing work on a green Honda Accord when he was struck by the Ford pickup about 3 p.m. in the 100 block of West 87th Street, according to Chicago police.

The driver of the Ford and the man working on the Honda knew each other, police said.

The 22-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Chicago Fire Department. His body was brought to St. Bernard Hospital.

The driver of the pickup drove off after striking the man, but was later taken into custody, police said. Charges were pending.
