Naperville Student Found Dead in Pennsylvania Dorm Room

Waynesburg police Chief Rob Toth identified the student as 18-year-old Claribeth De La Cruz

The death of a female student from Naperville who was found Sunday in her residence hall room at a private, Christian college in southwestern Pennsylvania doesn't "appear to be suspcious."

Waynesburg police Chief Rob Toth identified the student as 18-year-old Claribeth De La Cruz.

The chief said school security found the body after they were asked to check on De La Cruz by someone who could not reach her. She was found in her room in Ray Hall just after 2 p.m. Sunday.

The school issued a statement saying officials are "deeply saddened" by the student's death, but that they've "been assured that there is no evidence of foul play."

The Greene County coroner hasn't ruled on the cause of death.

"The Waynesburg University family remains deeply saddened by the death of a fellow student on Sunday. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the family and friends of the student," the statement from the university read.

The school is located about 40 miles south of Pittsburgh has about 1,400 students.
