Wilmette Police are advising residents to avoid the intersection of Lake and Laramie after a water main break spilled water onto the frigid roadway.
According to police, Eastbound Lake Avenue between Laramie and Skokie Boulevard is closed to traffic as crews try to repair the broken water main and try to clear water and ice from the street surface.
The lane closest to the curb on Southbound Skokie Boulevard in the area is also impacted, according to police.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area as clean-up efforts continue.
