Watch: Chicago-Area Students Join National Anti-Gun Violence Walkout

Watch as students in Chicago and throughout the suburbs walked out of class

Carrying signs and demanding change, students at schools across Illinois participated in a national walkout to protest gun violence.

Wednesday's walkouts came after a gunman killed 17 students last month at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Many students stepped outside for 17 minutes, one minute for each person killed at the Florida school. Students at schools in Chicago and throughout the suburbs walked out, some holding a moment of silence at the end.
