Video: Toews Takes on Matthews in Epic Trick Shootout

Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews may have the nickname of “Captain Serious,” but he showed his lighter side in a new trick shot video with one of the NHL’s fastest-rising stars.

That star is Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews, who was taken with the first overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft. Matthews has already become well-known for his stick-handling and shooting abilities at the NHL level, but he clearly could learn a thing or two from the Blackhawks’ captain.

Here is the video of the two stars duking it out by shooting hockey pucks at all manner of things, including coffee cups and expensive camera equipment:

The assault on the craft services table is arguably the most fun part of the video, with Toews taking aim at the chocolate fountain and Matthews making quick work of Toews’ precious vegetable trays.

If we’re going to declare a winner for the shootout, we would have to go with Toews, as he seemed to hit objects with a lot of precision, while Matthews seemed almost nervous about hitting expensive camera equipment with pucks (or simply couldn’t overcome his laughter at Toews’ verbal jabs).
