Toddlers Rescued After Video Showed Them Hanging From Window of Chicago Apartment

Chicago police confirmed the children were brought back inside by a resident who climbed the ladder

Dramatic cell phone video shows two toddlers dangling from a window as residents rush to save them in Chicago’s Hermosa neighborhood Thursday night. 

The video shows two young children hanging on the window in the in the 4300 block of West Palmer as several nearby residents stand under them with arms outstretched to catch them. Eventually, a man brings in a ladder, but the footage ends before the babies are rescued.

Chicago police confirmed the children were brought back inside by a resident who climbed the ladder and no one was injured. 

Police said an adult was at the home at the time of the incident but didn’t see what happened. 

The Department of Children and Family Services confirmed it was investigating allegations of neglect involving two 2-year-old children at the home. The investigation is pending, DCFS said, and the children have been placed with relatives "under a safety plan."
