Video: Darling Dazzles With Sprawling Save on Spaling

Scott Darling doesn’t get a chance to play very often for the Chicago Blackhawks, but on Monday he did, and he made Joel Quenneville look like a genius.

During the Blackhawks’ 7-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs, Darling made 35 saves, but none of them were more spectacular than the one he made against Nick Spaling in the second period of the game.

The play was one of the absolute best that we’ve seen in the NHL this season. Darling’s recognition on the play was astounding, as he saw Teuvo Teravainen lose the puck in front of the net, and the goaltender immediately began kicking back toward the far post. Using his entire 6-foot-5 frame, Darling sprawled out to rob Spaling, and he gave fans a reason to cheer at the United Center.

Your move, Mr. Crawford.
