Victim Identified in Fatal River North Parking Garage Fire

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man killed in a parking garage fire on the city's North Side Saturday.

The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Terrell Webster, who was one of the workers in the garage when a fire broke out at the River North facility on Saturday afternoon.

Four other individuals were wounded in the blaze. 

According to Deputy District Chief Cynthia Herring, all of the individuals affected were workers for a roofing company that were working on the elevator penthouse rooftop area of a building.

Heavy police presence and fire crews were seen around 1:30 p.m. responding to a fire incident in the Mart Parc Orleans garage at 437 N. Orleans St., fire officials said.

Herring said the fire was out within approximately 15 minutes of it being reported.

Two of the four injured were transported to Northwestern Memorial hospital and the other two were sent to nearby hospitals, she said.

The winter weather may have played a role, Herring said.

The cause of the fire however, is still under investigation.
