Woman Dies 3 Days After LSD Crash

Verlinda Perry-Hill was critically injured in Sunday crash with Mario Nutall

A South Shore woman died Wednesday, three days after she was hurt in a Lake Shore Drive traffic crash involving an allegedly drunk driver.

Verlinda Perry-Hill, 52, was driving a minivan when an SUV rear-ended her vehicle about 10:45 p.m. Sunday in the 4500 block of South Lake Shore Drive, authorities said. The impact of the crash sent the minivan careening over a curb, police said at the time.

Perry-Hill, of the 1400 block of East 69th Street, was pronounced dead at 12:09 p.m. Wednesday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The driver of the 2000 GMC SUV, 32-year-old Mareo T. Nutall, was initially charged with two counts of felony aggravated DUI, police said.

Nutall, of the 3500 block of West Arthington Street, was also cited for having a blood alcohol level at or above 0.08, driving on a suspended license and failing to reduce speed, police said.

Court information was not immediately available Wednesday night.
