A school bus fire on the inbound Dan Ryan has been cleared and all lanes have been reopened, the Illinois Department of Transportation says.
According to the agency, the blockage occurred Wednesday afternoon at 29th Street, and motorists were encouraged to avoid the area.
A photo posted to social media by Total Traffic Chicago showed plumes of black smoke rising from the expressway while the school bus was still ablaze.
Investigators are still looking into the fire.
