9 Injured in CTA Bus Crash on Near West Side

CTA officials say a van sideswiped the bus

Nine people were injured Tuesday afternoon when a van sideswiped a Chicago Transit Authority bus on Chicago's Near West Side.

CTA officials said the incident happened at 1:43 p.m. in the intersection of West Madison Street and South Ashland Avenue.

The van apparently ran a red light and swiped the side of the westbound bus, according to preliminary information.

Nine passengers were transported to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injures, and three declined medical attention.

No bus reroutes were needed.
