Proposed Development Would Put 330 Hotel Rooms Atop Union Station

Developers proposing a large residential project—including 330 hotel rooms and 404 “dwelling units”—to be built above Union Station met with West Loop residents Monday to discuss the proposal.

Riverside Investment and Development Co. and Convexity Properties met with residents to discuss the 210 South Canal Street project along with Ald. Brendan Reilly for a Q-and-A session. The proposal also includes an office tower to be built between Clinton, Van Buren and Canal Streets and the CTA Bus Depot.

Amtrak picked Chicago-based Riverside Investment and Development Co. after beginning its search in October 2015.

“This project has not received Alderman Reilly's support, and this is only the beginning of his rigorous, transparent community process,” a newsletter from Reilly’s office said. “Alderman Reilly looks forward to hearing your concerns.”
