A woman was found shot multiple times in a southwest suburban backyard early Friday, according to police.
A spokesman for the Will County sheriff's office said deputies were called to the 200 block of Riverview Avenue in unincorporated Lockport Township at around 12:34 a.m. for a call of shots fired.
Upon arrival, the deputies found a woman, believed to be in her 50s, in the backyard of a home covered in blood, according to Will County sheriff's office spokesman Dan Jungles.
The woman had been shot multiple times and was taken to an area hospital, officials said. Further details, including her condition and identity, were not immediately available.
No one is in custody in connection with the shooting, according to police, who said the investigation was in its early stages and remained ongoing.
Crime scene investigators were processing the scene early Friday, and detectives were conducting interviews, Jungles said.
