Undisclosed Amount of Money Stolen from a Brink's Truck in Hammond

Both men took three bags containing an undisclosed amount of money and took the firearm from the security officer

Two men stole bags containing cash from an armored truck at a parking lot of a Chase bank in northwest Indiana Saturday morning.

According to authorities, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Hammond Police responded to the incident located in the 4200 block of Calumet Avenue.

Officials said once they arrived at the location, they spoke with the driver/security guard of a Brink's truck who stated that two black males, approximately 20 to 30 years old, wearing masks, drove into the lot and fired one shot at the truck.

Both men took three bags containing an undisclosed amount of money and took the firearm from the security officer before returning to a vehicle, a Cadillac truck, and fled the scene. 

Police said no injuries were reported.

A short time later, police found the getaway vehicle, which the thieves had set ablaze. 

Local law enforcement, the FBI, and canine officers all searched for the suspects but have yet to locate them.
