There’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding Chicago-area weather Wednesday.
The metro area is in a marginal risk for storms during the evening hours and possibly into Thursday morning, but plenty of factors will play a role in whether storms develop and if they could become severe.
While not a certainty, should severe weather develop, the storms could produce large hail or isolated tornadoes.
Clouds are expected to thin for partial sun during the afternoon hours as conditions turn windy and much warmer. Temperature highs will climb into the 70s, though it will be cooler along the lakefront.

A few isolated strong storms will be possible in far northwest counties by the late-afternoon and evening.
Then, much of the area will see overcast conditions and possibly storms. A few isolated strong to severe storms will be possible later in areas south of Interstate 80 with rain and storms spreading north overnight.
The wet weather looks to taper by Thursday morning and afternoon as temperature highs drop back into the 50s.
