Two Women Killed in Eisenhower Crash

Two women were killed in an early morning crash on the inbound Eisenhower Expressway in west suburban Forest Park on Sunday.

A rear-end collision involving an SUV and a van happened about 3:30 a.m. in the eastound lanes of Interstate 290 near the First Avenue exit, Illinois State Police Trooper Jonn-Paul Oliveto said.

The driver and passenger in one of the vehicles, both women in their late 20’s, were dead at the scene of the accident, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Their identities were not released early Sunday pending notification of family members, the medical examiner’s office said.

As of 4:30 a.m. it was not immediately clear which vehicle the women had been in, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood with minor injuries, police said.

All inbound lanes of the expressway were expected to reopen by about 8 a.m.

State police are investigating.
