2 in Custody After Allegedly Firing Shots in Direction of CPD Officers

The officers were at a stop sign when a person in a nearby vehicle fired shots in their direction

A man and a woman were taken into custody on Sunday morning after one of them allegedly fired shots at a pair of Chicago police officers, authorities said.

At approximately 3:24 a.m. in the 1800 block of South Kostner in the city’s Lawndale neighborhood, two officers were sitting at a stop sign inside of their squad car when a black Nissan sedan pulled up alongside them, according to police.

One of the people inside of the vehicle then fired shots in the direction of the officers, and the vehicle took off. Officers then stopped the car a block later, and the two individuals, an unidentified man and woman, were taken into custody. A gun was also recovered from the vehicle, police said.

Charges are pending against the pair, and there do not appear to be any injuries in connection with the incident.
