Two Charged In Pizzeria Owner's Death

Police have arrested and charged two teens in connection with tlast summer's shooting death of a 29-year-old man in the Ukranian Village neighborhood.

It is thought that Jason Mueller, 29, was attempting to flag down a taxi near Grand and Wolcott avenues in the early morning hours of Aug. 10 when he was shot in the chest.

A witness told police he heard three shots, looked out of his home window and saw the man lying on the street, a police source said.

The two suspects walked southbound on Wolcott Avenue following the shooting, police said.

An autopsy showed Mueller died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

Muller was born and raised on Chicago's South Side, and was living on the North Side and running his own restaurant at the time of his death.

He was a graduate of Marist High School and the University of Illinois in Champaign.  His family said he also held a MBA from DePaul University.

On Thursday, police charged Anthony Callazo, 17, and Gabriel Contreres, 26, with first-degree murder.

Collazo and Contreras are scheduled to appear in Violence Court (Br.66) at noon.
