Tuesday Brings Rain Showers, Thunderstorms

The Chicago area will continue to ride a winter-spring weather roller coaster this week.

Following Monday’s brutal reminder of winter is the potential for thunderstorms and fluctuating temps.

Some areas saw more than 5 inches of snow during the morning hours Monday as temps dipped into the 30s. The next wet weather system looks to move into the area Tuesday, bringing rain showers and possible thunderstorms late in the day and into Wednesday morning. The severe weather looks to stay south of Chicago, but models show the potential for some thunder and rain in the area.

A warm front will lift temperatures Wednesday with highs rising back into the mid-50s, possibly even near 60 degrees in some areas.

Temps drop back into the low-40s Thursday with a chance for a rain-snow mix lingering throughout the day and possibly even into Friday. Friday’s temperatures dip back into the low-30s where they look to stay Saturday ahead of a slight warm-up and chance for showers Sunday.
