Truck Driver Fatally Shot During Robbery In Englewood

Canadian man was in the area visiting family, police said

A Canadian man was shot and killed Tuesday night during an apparent robbery in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood, police said.

The man, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as 39-year-old Gary Clark from the Ontario area, was found shot around 8:15 p.m. in a vacant lot on the 5800 block of South Aberdeen Street.

Police News Affairs said Clark was discovered in the cab of a semi truck parked between a house and the vacant lot. He was in the area visiting family, police said.

Witnesses told Area South detectives that Clark was by himself when at least three men walked up to him and tried to rob him. Somehow shots were fired.

Clark was struck in the right hip and taken to Stroger Hospital where he died.

Anyone who saw a group of three men in the area of 58th and Aberdeen streets Tuesday night are asked to call police.
